  1. Burton setting a trend for modern comic adaptations.

  2. First film I saw at the cinema without my parents. I remember hearing about 8 hour long queues to see it in cinemas in London. I ended up standing outside Chatham cinema 6 hours in advance to make sure I got in. I was still standing there on my own when the doors opened!

  3. Clearly benefitting from years of comic book developements as well - neatly and quickly creates idea of bankrupt city, pressure on Dent and Gordon and a totally mob controlled Gotham... The majority of it seen at night.

  4. The comic relief that Alfred provides in this is brilliantly subtle.

  5. When the commissioners response to hearing a officer's name in connection to leading a case is "Oh my God!", you'd think he would have done something about Eckhardt sooner.

  6. Honestly Vicki...on a first date. Tramp.

    1. Though clearly Alfred was extecting it.

    2. "it's nice to see you again" is clearly passive-aggressive butler code for "hussy"

  7. Crime alley seen during in the daytime, great rendition as well, probably the most effective on film.

  8. The level in the Atari ST 'Batman' game where you had to work out the cosmetic products combination was damn near impossible.

  9. Harvey Dent clearly not concerned that there is any of the Joker's toxin in hair products

  10. The whole museum scene is a build-up for the Batmobile. What a design.

  11. Vicki, in a moment of peril, hides behind a bowl of popcorn.

  12. Basinger doing a classic faint act. Majestic.

  13. Joker manages to get one jack-in-the-box in there at least!

  14. My recollection was that Michael Gough didn't really get to do much in this film but he is surprisingly excellent with the comic relief and grandfatherly concern.

  15. Never been a fan of the 'Joker killed Bruce's parents' route they took in this. Giving Batman closure on the parents issue is a no-no for me.

    1. Solves the issue in one go, considering this Bats is just 'compelled' to do his job it really slices a lot of motivation away.

  16. At the very least, Alfred letting Vale into the Bat Cave's gross-misconduct no?

  17. 75th Anniversary of Batman, and interestingly 25th Anniversary of this movie.

  18. Joker remarkably surprised that Bats has a plane... Considering he's branded his own helicopter.

  19. Show's how all-pervasive the 'Batman doesn't kill' edict is - the Burton Batman in particular is un-mercifully homicidal at every turn. Even worse in Returns...

  20. Suddenly it could be Romero again.

  21. No 'Joker-ladder' sign on the end?

  22. Flawed, but epically iconic. But not so good Burton didn't want to remake it...
